I would like to see a separate listing in the index for "employment based on severe economic hardship" like has been done for CPT and OPT rather than such employment being subsumed under "off-campus employment."
May 2013: The Adviser's Manual
The NAFSA’s Adviser’s Manual is an easy-to-navigate, searchable, and frequently-updated online resource that provides information regarding immigration processes and government regulations for advisers who work with international students and scholars. The Adviser’s Manual was converted to a web publication in 2007. In 2010, the Manual was upgraded to version 2.0, which included faster download times, better search functionality, and new user customizations like notes, section printing, and bookmarking. We’re now planning for future upgrades to the Manual, and we would like your input in two main areas:
- Do you have suggestions for new features or improvements of current features that would help you navigate the Manual or make the Manual work better for you in your job?
- How can current content be improved?
- Are there new content areas you would like to see included?
- Do you have any stylistic suggestions?
I think I found an incorrect citation reference in the Manual and couldn't find any place to provide feedback.
It would be helpful to have a quick, easy way to provide feedback when a possible typo is found.
btw, the reference is under 126.96.36.199 I think it should point to 8 CFR 214.2(j)(1)(viii) instead of (j)(1)(iii) regarding a change of address for J-1s
We would like to suggest that the left side navigation be made wider. It is too small and everything is too condensed, which makes it harder to navigate.
In terms of functionality, I would like to be able to export my notes.
I think it would be great if the content of chapters in the NAFSA Advisor's Manual also contained the section numbers too. such as 3A(3.1-3.5).
The box in which the Contents section appears should be wider and larger.
I would like to see "Termination of SEVIS record" as a separate listing in the index as opposed to subsuming it under 3D. I would like to see it right under 3D and have it become 3E thus changing the other designations.
I recently went in looking for information about record keeping and couldn't really find anything. Sepcifically, looking for what document copies should be retained in student files.
Accessing updates regarding regulations and finding assistance with regards to the regulations is difficult.
For content, I would like to see content related to IEP students gathered in one place.
It would be helpful to have a printed version, as an option, in addition to the online version. I am appreciative of the online version, the speed of updates, and availability of features, however it is extremely helpful to be able to have a printed manual and review with students and scholars and/or to have available when computers or the internet are not options.
This section doesn't include information about the possibility of applying for a fee waiver.
